It’s snowing!

It’s that time of the year again in Maine! The trees are white and the ground is covered in snow. I was pretty excited this morning to hear that my classes were canceled and the town was pretty much shut down. I wanted to fully get in the seasonal mood so I pulled up my Holiday collection from iTunes and set up a play list. I loaded up the usual suspects, but had to dig really deep to find the best female group holiday group. I spend most of the day relaxing and listening to music. It was a nice break in the action for me.

We Love Using Ares

My husband and I are on quite a limited budget for the foreseeable future. We are saving up to buy our first house and we have figured out that we need to watch every penny we spend. There are many little mindless luxuries that we have had to make a conscious decision to forgo, and that means we no longer buy the fancy coffees at a shop, rather we make our own at home and use a travel cup. We gave up dinners out and we cook more creatively. We also use ares to get our music rather than pay so much for each song we want to own. We are on our way to that new house!

Every year the my local arts magazine runs a contest called hartford advocate best of. Some say it’s a popularity contents of the areas best things. Others say that the community votes on who is really the best. Either way it’s fun to read every year about the best restaurants, bands and other local business’. I like to go on and vote for my favorites, but they never seem to be in the top ten. I think it’s pretty funny when people get all upset that it might be a popularity contest. It’s a silly little local contest that people get all bent out of shape with.

It was about twenty years ago when I decided that I wanted to start the band. We have been fortunate to have stayed together all these years and have certainly sold out more than a few shows. Yet, when we first started it was hard. We had to beg people to give us a chance and we saw so many slammed doors that we wondered for a moment if we made the right decision. Those were the days you never forget. The days when you and your buddies put those used guitars in your hands and make the crowd take notice for the first time.
